What is the PetaGys CloudNode, What does it do, & Why is it Required?

Discover the PetaGys CloudNode appliance.

PetaGys is all of those places you need to Safeguard your data. All of them.

PetaGys Hybrid Private Hybrid Cloud Appliance is the “Drop-in” Hyper-Converged infrastructure platform system designed for instant, simple, and highly secure deployment of local (on-site) and Private Hybrid cloud (off-site) Data Protection, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuance.

Whether customers are using Veeam, Acronis, ArcServe, Veritas, Microsoft, or any data backup software and/or VM replication tools, PetaGys CloudNode Private Hybrid Cloud Appliance is the underlying Convergence platform for Compliance driven, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuance initiatives under any probable system failure or data loss scenario.
Inherent in the PetaGys CloudOS is our High-performance, low-latency SD-WAN over commodity Layer-3 Internet services which create encrypted Interconnection links to a custom Private Hybrid Cloud remote Class-A Data Center. PetaGys CloudNode is a redundant, resilient, easy-to-deploy, turnkey solution that transparently integrates compute, network, and storage resources in a software-defined fabric to enable agile and efficient data protection and replication deployments. Customers access their Private Hybrid Cloud environment of server and storage networks scalable on-demand to their specific needs. Customers need only to plug in Ethernet and power cables to get full on-site and off-site data backup up and VM server replication and running in a few minutes
The CloudNode Appliance rapidly transforms a siloed or disconnected customer LAN into a powerful Private Hybrid cloud infrastructure that integrates well with popular public cloud services, including Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform and others. Always maintaining the customers internal Private LAN IP schema across all end-points for simplicity of management and access. The customer LAN is never exposed to the public Internet as it utilizes fully encrypted tunnels.
  • “PetsGys’s Hybrid Private Hybrid Cloud Appliance has enabled us to fast track our data backup and Compliance strategy to success by generating return on investment 60% faster than we had planned.” ~ Gary Ashlanian, CTO – Homepageuniverse.com
  • The PetaGys CloudNode Appliance deploys data protection and server replication quickly by leveraging the operating systems and Data Protection software you already run. Drop-in, plug, and cable into your existing data closet or data center and instantly access pure NVMe local SSD storage and replication targets. The PetaGys ClouldNode is based on bullet-proof ZFS Storage seamlessly presented as CIFS, Windows Share, NFS, and Hyper-V host. • How does PetaGys work?

The PetaGys simplicity is astonishing: Like a mobile smartphone, you plug it in and turn it on. Instant connectivity to multiple public clouds – all visible as local IP’s on your organizations private network. The PetaGys CloudNode creates a private and secure Layer-2 SD-WAN link from your on-prem LAN into your private multi-Cloud over your existing Internet access. This connection has optional redundancy when a failover Internet connection is present. The CloudNode also acts as a local network datastore – which automatically mirrors data to your Hybrid Cloud data center storage, as well as to any one or more Public Clouds of your choosing. Additionally the CloudNode is part of your now GeoClustered private Cloud, and provides the primary PetaCloud management dashboard.

    Why do you need this?

Multicloud strategies enable organizations to avoid vendor lock-in with any cloud provider or company. Fortunately, the reasons for this give organizations the control and freedom to determine exactly which cloud providers will be utilized and at which times. The entire philosophy of multicloud is to provide increased flexibility and capability to move around and access data. This seamless accessibility extends into making decisions to entirely switch between public cloud providers.
The Private multi-cloud model makes it easy to everything in any or multiple Clouds, and still get enterprise-grade data capabilities and consistent data services — so you can actually start using the cloud the way you use a local infrastructure, but for a lot less money.

How important is it for anenterprise to go the multi-cloud way?

As companies continue to progressively deploy services from multiple providers, business benefits such as increased agility, improved disaster recovery, faster time to market, cost optimization, improved power to negotiate, lower dependency on a single vendor, and product innovation are expected to increase. However, along with these advantages, the multi-cloud journey does introduce a few natural challenges such as difficulty in managing costs, reduced performance (in some instances), increased security risks, difficulty in controlling operation overheads, and management.

By crafting a detailed strategy, organizations can optimize the security, cost and performance of their cloud ecosystems.

Organizations will ultimately arrive at a multicloud approach as the result of case-by-case decisions surrounding specific workloads, without an overarching strategy to guide their investments. This can lead to unwanted complexity, cost overruns and subpar performance. To build out an architecture that will empower a company to meet its goals, business and IT leaders must invest in a range of solutions, strategies and services that will help them to optimize their multicloud environments.
